Brendan J. O’BrienAssociate
Brendan is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s litigation and securities practice. He started at the firm as a Summer Associate in May 2017 and joined the firm as an Associate Attorney upon his graduation from St. John’s University School of Law.
Brendan assists the firm in all aspects of securities litigation and FINRA arbitration proceedings from discovery to court appearances to second-chairing trial and FINRA proceedings. His practice focuses on the representation of broker-dealers, brokers, and investment advisers in defending against claims brought under the federal securities laws as well as state blue sky laws. Brendan has also represented customers and investors in disputes with their brokers in FINRA arbitration proceedings and state court proceedings. Additionally, he represents parties in complex commercial disputes such as the dissolution of closely held corporations.
In addition to his litigation practice, Brendan also performs regulatory and compliance work for the firm’s clients such as assisting in the amending of FINRA Membership Applications. Brendan also has conducted due diligence for investors who were solicited private placements and other exempt securities transactions.
Prior to joining Wexler Burkhart Hirschberg & Unger, LLP, Brendan was a member of the Securities Arbitration Clinic at St. John’s University School of Law where he represented underserved investors in disputes with their brokers and financial advisors in FINRA arbitration proceedings. Brendan is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
Brendan graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Loyola University Maryland in 2015. He then attended St. John’s University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 2018. While in law school, Brendan was a member of the Securities Arbitration Clinic as well as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society.
